Testing has been going very well on the new braking surface.
Received a set of wheels several weeks ago with the new surface, and been riding them on and off since (hampered by snow and ice). I mainly wanted to ride them in the rain, so I could see how they compare to the 38s I was was racing on last season.
In summary, there is no comparison. The 50s I had coated feel great, and the stopping power is superb. They felt a little rough to start with, but that roughness wore down (which is normal) and now the surface is smooth, but the feeling you get back from the blocks is smooth and progressive (rather than barely anything then biting when stopping in the wet).
I’m meeting with the company that supply the coating this week to discuss how best to push this forward, and will post an update soon – I know lots of people are interested in knowing when they will be available to buy, so watch this space!
Ciao, Ben.
